One of the largest optometry meetings in the world has become the first major US optometric event to be accredited in the UK for providing CET points for optometrists.
SECO International, the Atlanta-based event which will be staged next month, bills itself as one of the most comprehensive sources of continuing education for eye care professionals, and this year British attendees can gather UK credits.
“In the eye care profession, SECO has become the education destination”, said Jonathan Shrewsbury, OD, president of the event.
“The last ten years have shown a tremendous growth in SECO’s activities both with industry and our educational involvement worldwide as we have truly become international.”
The event, which will run for five days (February 10-14), aims to advance optometry worldwide to benefit public health and well-being through education, professional networking and strategic partnerships.
Organisers said this week the accreditation of CET for the UK is an important step in helping to achieve this mission as well as distinguishing SECO from other US optometric organisations.
SECO International is produced annually by SECO International, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Southern Council of Optometrists, Inc.
SECO International, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a not-for-profit membership association founded in 1923, and its member practitioners are based in the 12 southern states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The annual conventions regularly attract more than 7,000 national and diabetic international eye care professionals, and allied ophthalmic personnel.

I have completed a BSc(optometry) in India and want to do some short courses in contact lens. Would you have any suggestions as to who I should contact regarding doing a DCLP in London?
