Works by deafblind artist for sale as NFTs to celebrate awareness week

Deafblind UK has teamed up with a teenage artist to create a collection of digital artworks, which are being sold as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to celebrate Deafblind Awareness Week (27 June–3 July).
 
Ava Jolliffe, aged 15, has created the Spark collection to “bring inspiration and empowerment to those living with deafblindness,” the charity said.

Jolliffe has Brown Vialetto van Laere Syndrome, meaning she is deafblind and uses a wheelchair.

Her work has been seen on the BBC, and has also been featured in several art galleries.

She said: “I am very happy to show that being deafblind does not have to have limits, I am an artist and I want people to understand that although I have disabilities I also have abilities and we should focus on what I can do versus what I can’t do.”

Spark is Jolliffe’s first NFT collection. Proceeds from sales will support Deafblind UK, as well as Jolliffe’s own graphic design work.

CEO of Deafblind UK, Steve Conway, called Jolliffe a “shining example of everyone who has overcome adversity and achieved great things despite having dual sensory loss.”

He added that the charity is “incredibly proud to have the opportunity to work with Ava on this project.”

Fungii Studios, which helps NGOs and charities launch NFT projects, also offered their assistance.
